Questions, a theme where swatches don't look right, or a feature you need? Email support@stickermint.com with your store address, your theme and a product link. We reply within one business day.
Getting started
- Add the Swatches block: on the app home, click Add block in theme editor. Your theme editor opens on a product page with the block ready to add. Drag it next to your theme's variant picker and click Save.
- Check your options: on Swatch settings, list the option names that should show as swatches (Color, Colour and their usual translations are already there). Options whose values have Shopify colour swatches show as swatches whatever their name.
- Check your colour names: on Colours, click Check my products to see which values still show as text, and give them a colour (or, on Pro, an image).
- Pro: turn on the Card swatches app embed from the app home, and create Product groups to link products you sell separately.
How the swatches work
- A swatch click selects your theme's own variant picker for the same value. Your theme then updates the price, images, stock and the page address as it always does, and Add to cart / Buy it now add the variant your theme shows.
- By default the theme's own picker row for those options is hidden (the swatches replace it). Untick Hide the theme's picker in the block settings to keep both.
- If a product page has no picker for that option, a swatch opens that variant's page instead.
- Colours come from, in order: Shopify's own option swatches, your colour list, the built-in colour names, and two to four colours written as "Black/White". On Pro, values can show their variant image (patterns, prints) or your own image.
Product cards (Pro)
- Swatches sit on the product image of each card, so cards never change size. Hovering a swatch shows that colour's image; clicking opens that colour. On phones the first tap shows the colour and the second opens it.
- Collection and search pages get their swatch data with the page itself. Other cards (home page sections, recommendations, products loaded as you scroll) are looked up in one request per 20 products.
- Cards are found by their link to the product. If swatches don't appear on your theme's cards, the embed settings let you adjust the card and image selectors — or email us and we'll send you the right values.
Product groups (Pro)
- A group links separate products — for example one product per colour — as one row of swatches. Each product keeps its own page, URL, photos, stock and reviews.
- A product can be in one group. Groups can have up to 50 products.
- This is our own linked-swatches feature for any Shopify plan. It doesn't create Shopify's Combined Listings (a separate Shopify Plus feature): grouped products stay separate products in collections, search and filters.
Plans
Free: product page colour swatches. Pro, $5.99 per month with a 7-day free trial: card swatches, product groups, image swatches and styling.
- To upgrade, downgrade or cancel, open Plans in the app and click Choose a plan (or Manage plan on Pro): Shopify's plan page opens, and you come back to Plans when you're done. Shopify bills the plan on your regular invoice; a move from Pro to Free takes effect at the end of the billing cycle you already paid for.
- Moving back to Free deletes nothing: product page colour swatches keep working, and card swatches, product groups and image swatches are hidden until you choose Pro again.
Uninstalling
The app never changes your theme's code. When you uninstall, Shopify removes the block and the embed, and your theme's own variant picker is back exactly as before. We delete your settings and groups 48 hours after uninstall.
